Provision a Vultr Kubernetes Engine cluster with a node pool via Console, API, CLI, or Terraform, optionally VPC-only.
Vultr Kubernetes Engine (VKE) is a fully managed Kubernetes service that lets you deploy Kubernetes clusters with predictable pricing. Vultr manages the control plane and provides integration with other Vultr services, such as Load Balancers, Block Storage, and DNS. Each cluster runs one or more node pools of worker nodes, and you can enable High Availability for the control plane and attach a Vultr Firewall when you create the cluster. VKE is suited to CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and AI-driven applications that need global reach and reliability.
Follow this guide to provision a Vultr Kubernetes Engine cluster using the Vultr Console, API, CLI, or Terraform.
Navigate to Compute and click Kubernetes.
Click Create Cluster +.
Enter a name for the cluster in the Cluster Name field.
Click the Kubernetes Version drop-down and select a version, such as v1.37.1+2.
Optionally, select Enable High Availability to deploy the cluster with multiple control plane nodes.
Optionally, select Enable Firewall to create a Vultr Firewall group for the cluster.
In the Cluster Configuration section, click the Node Pool Type drop-down and select a node type, such as AMD High Performance, Intel High Performance, or High Frequency.
Click the Node Pool Plan drop-down and select a plan. Each plan lists its Cost per node, CPUs, memory, storage, and bandwidth.
Enter a name for the node pool in the Label (required) field.
Click - or + under Number of Nodes to set the number of worker nodes in the node pool.
A node pool with one node displays Warning: Using only one instance can lead to downtime. To avoid this, increase your number of nodes. Use at least two nodes for production workloads.
Optionally, click Add Another Node Pool to add more node pools to the cluster.
Select a location in the Cluster Location section, such as London. If the selected plan is not available in a location, the location displays Select a different plan for this location.
In the VPC Network section, click the VPC drop-down and select Create New VPC to create a VPC network for the cluster, or select an existing VPC network in the same location.
Review the monthly cost in the Summary panel.
Click Deploy Now to provision the cluster.
Verify that the VKE cluster created! Please allow a few minutes for your cluster to be ready. message displays and the cluster appears in the Kubernetes list.
