Can I Use Windows on a Vultr Compute Instance?

Yes, you can use Windows on a Vultr Compute instance. Vultr offers officially licensed Windows Server such as Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019, and 2016, which can be deployed directly from the Vultr Customer Portal when creating a new instance.

Note
When Windows Server instances are deployed using Vultr's public images, they are automatically bound to a licensed copy of Windows. This license incurs additional hourly billing charges in addition to your instance plan.

You can also upload your own custom Windows ISO and install a version of Windows of your choice. This gives you the flexibility to deploy non-server editions or customized Windows builds, subject to Microsoft licensing terms.

Important
When using a custom Windows ISO, ensure that you are using a properly licensed copy of Windows. Vultr discourages the use of pirated or unlicensed software, as it may lead to compliance violations. Instances found in breach of licensing requirements may be subject to suspension or termination.
