Can I Import a DNS Zone?

Updated on 20 November, 2025

DNS lacks direct zone import functionality, requiring manual record creation for domain management

Currently, Vultr DNS does not provide a direct option to import an existing DNS zone. However, you can still manage all your domain’s DNS records within Vultr by manually creating them in your DNS zone. Each record you add in Vultr (A, CNAME, MX, TXT, etc.) is part of the child zone under Vultr’s authoritative nameservers (ns1.vultr.com, ns2.vultr.com) and controls how your domain resolves on the internet.

For more information on adding and managing DNS records in Vultr, and replicating your existing DNS setup, refer to the How to Manage Domain DNS Records using Vultr DNS.
