Learn how to rotate the SCIM token for a Vultr organization using the Vultr Console or the Vultr API, generating a new token for your identity provider.
Rotating your SCIM token is a security best practice that generates a new authentication token while immediately invalidating the previous one. This ensures that any old tokens or potentially compromised tokens are rendered unusable and helps maintain secure access to your SCIM management capabilities.
When you rotate the SCIM token, it immediately invalidates the old token and creates a new token to interact with SCIM management. All your integrations which are configured to use that token will stop working immediately until you update them to use the new token. Update the token in your identity provider's provisioning settings, such as Okta, or provisioning breaks. Only a root user can rotate the SCIM token.
Follow the steps below to rotate the SCIM token for your organization using the Vultr Console or the Vultr API.
Log in to the Vultr Console.
Click the organization name in the top navigation bar.
Click Manage Organization.
Click Federated Identity under Identity and Access Management in the left sidebar.
Under System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM), click Regenerate next to the SCIM Token field.
Select I understand and want to continue, then click Regenerate SCIM Token.
The Vultr Console generates a new SCIM token and immediately invalidates the previous one.
Click Show SCIM Token to view the new token value, then copy it into your identity provider's provisioning settings.
