How to Destroy a Vultr Cloud GPU Instance

Destroy a Vultr Cloud GPU instance and release its public IP; recovery is possible only from a snapshot or backup.

Destroying an instance removes the public IP address and deletes the server from your Vultr account. Destroying an instance cannot be reversed, and any instance data cannot be recovered unless a backup or snapshot is available in your Vultr account. If the instance boots from a bootable Block Storage volume, the volume is not affected. It remains in your account as an independent subscription with its operating system, data, and credentials intact, and continues to incur charges until you delete it.

Follow this guide to destroy a Vultr Cloud GPU instance and to delete its bootable Block Storage volume when it is no longer required, using the Vultr Console, API, CLI, or Terraform.

Navigate to Compute and click Instances.
Click your target Cloud GPU instance to open its management page.
Click the Server Destroy icon in the icon row. In the confirmation dialog, check Yes, destroy this server, then click Destroy Server.
If the instance booted from a bootable Block Storage volume, navigate to Storage and click Block Storage, then verify that the volume is still listed, with the Attachment column showing Not attached and the Status column showing Active.
To reuse the volume, deploy a new instance from it. The new instance boots the operating system as it was, so existing credentials continue to work. See How to Provision a Vultr Cloud GPU Instance from a Bootable Block Storage Volume.
To delete the volume, click the delete icon on its row in the Block Storage list and confirm.
