Connect an MCP client to the Vultr MCP Server, log in with OAuth, and run a first query about your Vultr infrastructure using Claude Code as the example.
The Vultr Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server is hosted by Vultr, so there is nothing to install. You add the server URL to an MCP client, log in to Vultr with OAuth, and ask questions about your infrastructure in plain language. The server is in public preview and is read-only.
Follow this guide to connect an MCP client to the Vultr MCP Server and run your first query.
The Vultr MCP Server is in public preview. The tool surface and endpoint structure may change at general availability, so forward compatibility is not guaranteed.
Before you begin, ensure that:
Add the server URL to the client, and then log in. Each login is tied to the organization that is selected in the Vultr Console when you click Authorize.
Add the Vultr MCP Server to Claude Code.
List the configured servers.
Verify that vultr appears in the list.
Run /mcp in Claude Code and select vultr.
Claude Code opens a browser window.
Log in to Vultr and click Authorize.
Ask the client what account it is connected to, and then ask a question about your infrastructure.
Ask the client What Vultr account am I connected as?
Verify that the response shows the account and organization that you expect.
Ask a question about your infrastructure. For example, ask Which instances are running in Atlanta, and on what plans?
The client is now connected to the Vultr MCP Server and answers read-only questions about your infrastructure. The URL https://mcp.vultr.com/mcp provides every tool. To connect to a smaller set of tools for one product area, see Tools. For more questions to ask, see Example Prompts. For the most current documentation, see the Vultr MCP Server repository on GitHub.
