Can I Change My Email Address if I Use OAuth or SSO to Log In?

Updated on 15 September, 2025

Email address changes for OAuth or SSO accounts must be made through the external authentication provider, not the Vultr portal.

If you log in to your Vultr account using an external authentication method such as OAuth (e.g., Google or GitHub) or Single Sign-On (SSO) via SAML or OIDC, you cannot manually change your email address from the Vultr Customer Portal.

These authentication methods delegate identity verification to your identity provider, which asserts your email address at login. To reflect a new email address in your Vultr account:

  • OAuth (Google or GitHub): Change your email address within your OAuth provider's account settings. Vultr will automatically detect the updated email during your next login.
  • SSO: Contact your identity provider administrator to update your email address. Vultr will use the updated email when the identity assertion is received on your next login.

To manually change your email address, you must use the standard email and password authentication method. For more information, refer to How to Update Your Email Address.
