Can I Attach Vultr Block Storage Volume to Vultr Bare Metal Server?

Updated on 15 September, 2025

Block Storage volumes cannot be attached to Bare Metal Servers, as theyre designed only for virtual instances like Cloud Compute.

No. Vultr Block Storage volumes are not supported on Vultr Bare Metal Servers. Vultr Block Storage is a network-attached storage solution that integrates with Vultr's virtualized infrastructure. It is designed to attach to virtual instances such as Vultr Cloud Compute, Optimized Cloud Compute, and Cloud GPU.

Because Bare Metal Servers provide direct access to physical hardware without a virtualization layer, they cannot interface with Vultr Block Storage. To expand storage capacity on Bare Metal, you must provision additional local disks during deployment or attach storage through other methods, such as NFS, iSCSI, or third-party network storage solutions.
