How to Retrieve the Cluster Configuration for a Vultr Kubernetes Engine Cluster

Retrieve the kubeconfig, API endpoint, and credentials for a Vultr Kubernetes Engine cluster so kubectl can connect.

The cluster configuration of a Vultr Kubernetes Engine (VKE) cluster is a kubeconfig file that contains the cluster's API server endpoint, such as https://{vke-id}.vultr-k8s.com:6443, and the credentials that kubectl and other Kubernetes clients use to connect to the cluster. Keep the kubeconfig file secure because it grants administrative access to the cluster.

Follow this guide to retrieve the cluster configuration of a Vultr Kubernetes Engine cluster using the Vultr Console, API, CLI, or Terraform.

Navigate to Compute and click Kubernetes.
Click the target cluster to open its management page.
Optionally, note the cluster's Endpoint on the Overview tab.
Click Download Configuration to download the kubeconfig file.
