Add a node pool with its own plan and size to a Vultr Kubernetes cluster using the Console, API, CLI, or Terraform.
Adding a node pool to a Vultr Kubernetes Engine (VKE) cluster creates a new group of worker nodes that share the same plan and node pool type. Use additional node pools to run workloads that need different compute resources, such as memory-intensive services or GPU workloads, alongside the nodes you created with the cluster. Each node pool scales and bills independently.
Follow this guide to add a node pool to a Vultr Kubernetes Engine cluster using the Vultr Console, API, CLI, or Terraform.
Navigate to Compute and click Kubernetes.
Click the target cluster to open its management page.
Click the Nodes tab.
Click Add Node Pool.
In the Cluster Configuration dialog, click the Node Pool Type drop-down and select a node type, such as AMD High Performance, Intel High Performance, High Frequency, Regular Cloud Compute, or Optimized Cloud.
Click the Node Pool Plan drop-down and select a plan based on its Cost per node, CPUs, Memory, Storage, and Bandwidth values.
Enter a name for the node pool in the Label (required) field.
Click - or + to set the Number of Nodes. A node pool with one node displays a warning because a single instance can lead to downtime.
Optionally, click Add Another Node Pool to configure more node pools in the same request.
Review the Total Monthly Rate and click Create Node Pool to add the node pool.
