Can I Configure Firewall Rules on a Vultr Load Balancer?

Updated on 15 September, 2025

Load Balancers include configurable firewall rules to restrict inbound traffic based on IP addresses, subnets, or ranges for enhanced security.

Yes. Vultr Load Balancers support internal firewall rules that function similarly to Vultr’s stand-alone Firewalls. You can restrict inbound traffic to your Load Balancer based on IP addresses, subnets, or ranges, providing an additional layer of network security.

Firewall rules can be configured during Load Balancer creation on the Create Load Balancer page, or later through the Firewall Rules section on the Manage Load Balancer page. Rules are enforced at the edge, ensuring that only allowed traffic reaches your backend instances.
