How to Resize a Vultr Cloud Compute Instance

Move a Vultr Cloud Compute instance to a plan with more vCPUs, RAM, and storage. Downgrades are unsupported.

Resizing an instance activates a new plan with more vCPUs, RAM, and storage to match your needs. Upgrading the instance enables a higher plan without changes to the instance's data or file system. Downgrading is not supported.

Follow this guide to resize a Vultr Cloud Compute instance using the Vultr Console, API, CLI, or Terraform.

Navigate to Compute and click Instances.
Click your target Vultr Cloud Compute instance to open its management page.
Navigate to the Settings tab.
Find and click Change Plan on the left navigation menu.
Click the Plan drop-down under Change Plan and select a new instance plan.
Click Upgrade to resize your instance.
Select the checkbox in the confirmation prompt and click Change Plan to apply changes.
