What Is a Vultr CDN Pull Zone and How Does It Work?

Updated on 20 November, 2025

A CDN service that automatically fetches and caches content from your origin server across global edge locations to improve delivery speed and reduce origin load.

A Vultr CDN Pull Zone is a type of content delivery configuration that automatically retrieves content from your origin server and caches it at Vultr’s globally distributed edge locations. When a user requests a resource, such as an image, stylesheet, or script, the CDN first checks its cache at the nearest Point of Presence (PoP). If the content is available in the cache, it is served directly from the edge, reducing latency and improving load times. If the content is not cached or has expired, the Pull Zone fetches it from the origin server, caches it at the edge, and then delivers it to the user.

This mechanism minimizes the number of direct requests to the origin server, reducing server load and bandwidth usage while providing faster and more reliable access for users worldwide. Pull Zones are particularly useful for websites and applications that have dynamic traffic patterns or a geographically distributed audience, as they ensure that content is served efficiently from locations closest to end users.

For detailed configuration and management of Pull Zones, see the official Vultr CDN Pull Zone Documentation.
