Can I Use My Vultr Compute Instance IP as a Reserved IP?

Updated on 15 April, 2026

Explains how to convert a Vultr Compute instances primary IP address into a Reserved IP for continued use after instance deletion

Yes, you can convert a Vultr Compute instance’s primary public IP address into a Reserved IP. This allows you to retain the IP address even if the instance is deleted.

After conversion, the IP becomes portable within the same region. You can reassign it to other instances in that region as needed.

Note
Reserved IPs are region specific and cannot be attached to instances deployed in a different region.
